Boyed up Smith chases Motegi repeat - Grand Prix of Japan

Posted on Sep 26, 2011 by Nick Harris

Bradley Smith arrives at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit for the re-scheduled Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday with a new three year contract in his pocket and the chance to repeat his podium finish of last year.

The 20 year old Oxfordshire rider finished third in the 125cc race last year at the 2.983 miles Motegi circuit and a podium repeat in the Moto2 race on Sunday should keep his chances of a third place finish in the Championship alive.

Riding the Tech3 machine he finished sixth at Aragon despite starting from the fifth row while his great rival Scott Redding led the way in the early stages but was forced back with major tyre problems. The Gloucestershire teenager finished fifth on the Marc VDS machine last year and had led the last two grands prix before being forced to drop back.

Bradley Smith
“With my future sorted I can really concentrate on fighting for third place in the Championship although it will be tough with Iannone and De Angelis in good form. I like Motegi and finished on the podium last year also I’m glad to be going to Japan to support everybody over there who have had such a terrible time recently.”
