British riders challenge at home Grand Prix - AirAsia British Grand Prix 2011

Posted on Jun 06, 2011 by Nick Harris

The MotoGP World Championship makes its one and only annual appearance in Britain in the AirAsia British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday. Spearheading the home challenge round the 3.667 miles circuit will be Tech3 Riders Cal Crutchlow and Bradley Smith who both have a superb record at the Northamptonshire circuit.

Bradley Smith from just down the road in Oxford finished third in the 125 cc race last year and he returns for his sixth race in the highly competitive Moto2 class. Smith, riding the Tech3 Honda is tenth in the Championship despite finishing 19th in Barcelona after a series of misfortunes. He has the pace to be near the front on his debut season especially at his home race.

Bradley Smith
“Barcelona was a disappointing race obviously, even if I made a lot of overtakes and set the fastest lap of the race, it was not the outcome we wanted. I am now really excited to go to Silverstone for my home race. It is another track that is fast and flowing like Barcelona, so I think that is definitely going to suit our bike. It is disappointing I didn't get any points at the last race, but we can't be negative, there were so many positive things. I'm sure we will be fighting again at the front at Silverstone”.
