It’s been a long gap between races - bwin Portuguese Grand Prix 2011

Posted on Apr 26, 2011 by Nick Harris

Tech3 rider Bradley Smith has made a superb start to his Moto2 career. The 20 year old Oxfordshire rider is sixth in the Championship after finishing fourth at the previous round in Jerez. He has already tested at Estoril this season and knows the track well from his 125 cc Championship campaigns.

Bradley Smith
“It’s been a long gap between races for obvious and very sad reasons and like everybody else I can’t wait to carry on where we left off in Jerez. I’ve kept fit in the break with eight days of cycle training in Italy but there is nothing like riding the Moto2 bike. I enjoy Estoril and have finished on the podium in the last two 125 cc races. Also we have tested the Moto2 bike there before the start of the season which should be a good start when we go out on Friday morning.”

Last year the Portuguese Grand Prix was held at the end of October and heavy rain and high winds washed out all the qualifying sessions and made conditions very difficult on race day. Hopefully the change of dates will ensure some better weather at the Estoril circuit situated just outside Lisbon on the Atlantic coast of Portugal.
