Smith to build on superb Silverstone - Iveco TT Assen 2011

Posted on Jun 20, 2011 by Nick Harris

Twenty year old Bradley Smith looks to build on his superb second Moto2 finish at Silverstone. The Oxfordshire rider is looking to an improved qualifying session on the Tech3 Honda to give him a chance to run with the leading pack in dry conditions. He was third in the 125 cc race a couple of years ago and currently lays an impressive seventh in his debut season in the Moto2 class.

Bradley Smith:
“I like Assen because it’s a fast flowing circuit which should suit the bike. Obviously the result at Silverstone was a big boost for me and the team and hopefully we can take another step forward in Holland. It goes without saying we want to improve our qualifying and also I want to run with the leading group in the dry.”

For the last 63 years the final Saturday in June has always been the date in the diary for the only event still running from the original grand prix calendar in 1949 – The Dutch TT in Assen. This year is no exception with the seventh round of the MotoGP World Championship being staged at the world famous 2.822 miles Van Drenthe circuit in the north of Holland.
